Inflatable kayaks for fishing, judged on skin and stability
A fishing platform needs beam, capacity and a hull that tolerates a hook. Two of those are published; the third almost never is.

Fishing from an inflatable asks two things of the boat that ordinary paddling does not. It puts sharp metal within arm's reach of the hull, and it asks the boat to sit still and level while you do something other than paddle.
The first of those is a material question, and it is the one this category answers worst. Not one manufacturer in our registry publishes a denier rating, a puncture-resistance figure or an abrasion test result. What you get is the name of the material, and you have to reason from there.

Material names are the manufacturers' own. None of them publishes a denier figure, a puncture-resistance rating or an abrasion result, so this column is descriptive rather than comparable.
What "38 mil" and "three-ply" actually tell you
Sea Eagle's 38 mil figure is a thickness -- 38 thousandths of an inch -- and it is the only numeric skin specification anybody in this registry publishes. It is genuinely useful, because thickness is most of what resists a hook.
Intex's "three-ply" is a construction description rather than a measurement: a PVC layer either side of a polyester scrim. The scrim is what stops a puncture propagating into a tear, which is the failure that actually ends a day out. It is a good design and there is no number attached to it.
Advanced Elements' fabric-reinforced polyurethane on the PackLite is a different trade entirely -- it is how the boat reaches 4 lb, and lightness and puncture tolerance are not compatible goals. That is why it is the skip pick here despite being the most interesting boat in the registry. The materials guide goes through all of this properly.
Standing to cast
This is the cleanest specification-driven answer on the page. A soft floor at 1 or 2 psi deforms under a standing adult; a drop-stitch floor at 6 psi does not. The Chelan 120 is the only boat here with the latter, and it is why it is on this list despite having the lowest capacity of the four non-skip picks.
If you intend to stand, that single specification outranks everything else on the page. If you intend to sit, it is worth much less and the capacity and skin columns matter more.

Three-ply PVC vinyl laminate over a polyester core is the most abrasion-tolerant skin in this registry, and 36 inches of beam over 12 ft 7 in of hull is a genuinely stable place to fish from. The 48 lb weight stops mattering when the boat lives in a car.
The trade-off

Twelve and a half feet of boat, 650 lb of capacity, 32 lb of hull, and it runs at 1.1 psi -- the lowest working pressure of anything here, which is why it is also one of the quickest to pump.
Six hundred and fifty pounds means a cooler, a tackle box and a second person, with margin left. Thirty-eight mil Polykrylar is a heavy-gauge skin, and five one-way valves make setup quick.
The trade-off
Low pressure means a soft hull. It is forgiving and it is slow. The packed bag is 31 x 19 x 8 inches -- 58 linear inches, so it checks, but it is a bulky thing to carry through an airport.

A drop-stitch floor at 6 psi under 3 psi side tubes. That pressure difference is the whole design: a hard, flat floor to stand the boat up, soft tubes to keep the weight down.
The 6 psi drop-stitch floor is the only genuinely rigid deck here. For anybody who wants to stand to cast, that pressure difference is the entire specification that matters.

Fifty linear inches packed and 27 lb, which gets a two-person fishing boat down a trail no trailer will reach. Three chambers and 450 lb of capacity is enough for two anglers traveling light.
The trade-off
Twenty-seven pounds and 450 lb of capacity in a 10 ft hull means two adults sit close and sit low. It is a lake and slow-river boat, not a touring one.

Advanced Elements PackLite
A 4 lb kayak that rolls to 11 x 11 x 5 inches. Nothing else in the category is close on either number, and the compromises are exactly the ones you would expect.
Four pounds of fabric-reinforced polyurethane at 2 psi, with 250 lb of capacity. Hooks and low-pressure lightweight fabric are a poor combination, and there is no margin for a loaded tackle box.
The trade-off
At 2 psi in the side tubes and 1 psi in the floor there is very little structure here. It is a boat for getting somewhere remote, not for a windy afternoon on open water.

Advanced Elements PackLite published specifications
It can, and the honest answer is that no manufacturer in this registry publishes a puncture-resistance figure you could use to compare models. What they publish is material -- three-ply PVC laminate over a polyester core on the Excursion Pro, 38 mil Polykrylar on the SE370, fabric-reinforced polyurethane on the PackLite. Thicker, PVC-based skins tolerate hooks better than lightweight polyurethane ones. Every one of these boats ships with a repair kit, which tells you something.
Can you stand up in an inflatable kayak to cast?+
Only if the floor is rigid, which in this set means the Aquaglide Chelan 120 and its 6 psi drop-stitch floor. Soft-floored boats at 1 to 2 psi give under a standing load, and standing in one is how people end up in the water.
How much capacity do you need for fishing gear?+
Take your own weight, add roughly 40 to 60 lb for a rod, tackle, a cooler and a PFD, and then aim to be at about two thirds of the boat's rating. A 200 lb angler with 50 lb of kit is 250 lb, which is exactly the PackLite's maximum and 38 percent of the SE370's.
